Poems, Thoughts and Prayers of Hope
Read poems, stories, prayers and share your thoughts with other grieving parents."
In this section, parents share poems, thoughts and prayers with the intention of helping other parents make it through this journey. Together, we can come out whole. Some of the items are religious, some are not. The Partnership for Parents is for parents from all religious and spiritual traditions and beliefs. We do not promote any particular religion, but encourage spiritual and religious expression in all forms.
The sky is filled with Angels
With puffy lacy wings
The remnants of God's beauty
With treasures they now bring
Each one of them a Guardian
That travels in the sky
To watch throughout eternity
Their parents from on high
Smiles that come from Angels
They fall like crystal rain
Eases earthly burdens
Lifting all life's pain
Halos so astounding
That glitter gold each day
Following their loved ones
In such a perfect way
Wings in gentle breezes
That fall from up above
Kissing every parent
With everlasting love
Angels soar through heaven
With everlasting light
Looking down from heaven
Saying their "goodnights"
Kissing all who loved them
So gently on the face
This life's tender mercy
Each parent can embrace
Wings and shiny halos
Travel from on high
Surrounding all their loved ones
They never say good-bye.

A Thanksgiving Poem
Dear Father who art in Heaven...
Please join our family on this Thanksgiving day
And bless each one as we sit down to pray
As we remember those who have joined You above
So dearly missed and deeply loved.
Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving day
Bless us with memories of those faraway...
Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve
And help us reach out to others who are bereaved.
We give thanks to You on this Thanksgiving day....
For Your presence in our lives each and everyday.
For Your comfort, guidance, and never ending love...
And for taking care of our loved ones...in Heaven above.
As we light this candle on this Thanksgiving day...
And it glows in memory of those in Heaven today....
May their lights always shine down on us and give us light...
And may we feel their presence along with Yours tonight.
May the peace and tranquility of this Thanksgiving day
Be an everlasting light within each of us along the way...
Lets bow our heads and give our Thanks to God above..
For our blessings, whether on earth or in Heaven above...
Amen

A Mother Shares About Her Own Spritual Journey and Trying to Make Sense of God
A few weeks after Jeremiah's death, I went to a ladies retreat. I was very disturbed at the message. When you have a child who is born so very sick, and who doesn't live long in this life, you can't help but blame yourself.
Was it something I did or didn't do? What if I had done this or that? Would things have been different? After the service I went up to the woman who brought the message and asked her why. Why would a meriful God let a baby be born so very broken? Why would God take my child from me, let my son die in my arms?
Her response was that just like Job, I needed to be able to give Jeremiah back to the Lord, and in my heart mean, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." Then she told me to read Isaiah 57:1-2 which says "The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death."
I don't know why Jeremiah was taken so young, or why he was born so very sick. But I do believe that the Lord spared him from a life that would have been very difficult. As hard as it is for me some days, I know that he is at rest and his little body is at peace. This scripture has brought me great peace, my baby was only six weeks old, but I believe the Lord preferred him so much, that He called Jeremiah to be back with him and enter peace.
